Newsweek opens the Bobby Jindal hunting season with an article making full use of the reporting methods honed on Sarah Palin. It paints the dangerous Louisiana governor as a Christian fundamentalist and gets the key words out – abortion, intelligent design, exorcism. We are also subtly told that Jindal betrayed his ethnic minority heritage by deciding – when he was still a teenager – that Catholicism would be a better religion than Hinduism for a future politician.

The article has a telling name: “Their Own Obama”. It’s never been a secret that for Newsweek, the Democrats are “us” and the Republicans are “they”, but it’s nice of them to say it openly.
