Obama to Muslims: I’m Weak and Indecisive

President Obama decided to grant his first official interview in office to an Arab cable network. (Full text of his Al-Arabiya interview.) That would have been fine if he at least sounded like he didn’t think America’s enemies are just poor misunderstood souls who will change their ways if he tells them how much he respects them and how peaceful America will be from now on.

Instead, he’s “reaching out” to people who have never once given the slightest indication of being interested in “reaching out” themselves. He lets the Iranian mullahs know that he’ll do nothing to stop them from getting nuclear weapons. He thinks nothing of criticising his own country – “too often the United States starts by dictating”. He follows his statement of belief that “Israel’s security is paramount” with a “but” and talk of “sacrifices” that will be needed from Israel.

Dr. Melissa Clouthier calls the attitude that resulted in this interview and decisions like calling for a global space weapons ban a “mistake that would ruin Barack Obama’s presidency”:

If America were to be hit with another terrorist attack, especially after Obama appears weak or makes decisions that weaken America’s defense, President Barack Obama’s star will sink faster than the Titanic.

The Left would defend Obama’s “humane” policies and be proud of a President who respected civil liberties, but Americans generally would heap the man in scorn. President Bush managed to keep Americans safe for years after 9/11. It wasn’t because we weren’t attacked again or because terrorist weren’t trying to do harm, because they were. It’s because President Bush woke up every day single-minded of purpose: to protect and defend.

If Americans perceive that Obama isn’t infused with the same passion and clarity of vision, if they believe that Obama is weak, and then America is attacked and lives are lost, Obama’s presidency will go down in flames literal and figurative. As Obama knows, perception is everything. It’s what got him elected. It could also undo him.

Well, the media also knows that perception is everything, and they will do all they can to shield Obama from any blame were an attack happen on his watch. ”The terrorists don’t want us to reelect a black president, so we must reelect him – or the terrorists will have won.”

Be sure to read Jules Crittenden’s hilarious parsing of what Obama says and what jihadis hear.
