Are Republicans Wrong to Give Up on California’s 55 Electoral Votes?

I Call BS! writes:

It was only 20 years ago – that’s only 5 presidential election cycles – that California’s electoral votes went to Republican George H.W. Bush in 1988. In 1980 and 1984 they went to Republican Ronald Reagan. In 1976 they went to Republican Gerald Ford. In 1968 and 1972 they went to Republican Richard Nixon. You have to go all the way back to 1964 to find a previous win for the Democrats, which was preceeded by Republican votes going back to 1952.
