Google Earth Photos of Russia’s Northern Fleet
The fleet is based in the Barents Sea towns of Murmansk and Severomorsk. Lots of photos of its ships, submarines and military infrastructure in this post on English Russia.

In the Soviet Union, conscripts dreaded being sent to the Northern Fleet: it was known as the most lawless place with the worst hazing problem in the entire military. In the mid-1980s, old (second- and third-year) seamen on one of the ships boiled a recently drafted one alive in a big cauldron in the galley. The ship’s entire crew was disbanded and transferred one by one to other ships after this incident. I doubt the place is much better now.
